PRESS RELEASE: Collins Accepts Four Debates with Maine Television Stations and their Media Partners

Campaign proposes first debate be held in two weeks

BANGOR, Maine — The Collins for Senator campaign announced today that Senator Susan Collins has accepted invitations for four debates against Troy Jackson ahead of the November election. The Collins campaign has proposed that the first debate be held during the first full week of September… well ahead of early voting, which begins on October 5. It would be hosted jointly by NewsCenter Maine, Maine Public, and the Portland Press Herald.

Sen. Collins has also accepted invitations to three additional debates: one arranged by WGME, another that is hosted cooperatively with both WABI and WAGM, and one with WMTW. Those dates will be announced as they are finalized.

“Senator Collins believes that Maine people deserve the chance to see both candidates answer the same questions, in the same room, more than once, and as soon as possible,” said Shawn Roderick, spokesperson for Collins for Senator.
