TURNER, ME — This weekend, Senator Susan Collins and her campaign team visited Ricker Hill Orchards, a ninth generation apple orchard and farm in Turner. There, Senator Collins picked apples with Androscoggin County families, received a tour of the farm, and got to make (and eat) a fresh batch of apple cider donuts.

“For generations, Ricker Hill Orchards in Turner has been a quintessential fall tradition for families in Androscoggin County and beyond. Institutions like this one are at the heart of Maine’s agricultural heritage. Thank you to the Timberlake family for the tour of your incredible orchard—I’ll always do everything I can to support our family-run farms,” said Senator Collins. 

Senator Collins has been a champion of Maine agriculture and its hardworking farmers and growers. Having grown up in Caribou with a deep appreciation for the hard work and dedication that defines Maine’s agricultural heritage, she works closely with Maine farmers. She has worked to keep Maine at the forefront of agriculture research, has been a national leader in the fight to protect Maine farmland from dangerous forever chemicals like PFAS, and has supported disaster relief funding for speciality crops, including apples.
