A major milestone was reached on the Senate floor for Senator Susan Collins.
The long-time senator cast her 10,000th consecutive vote Thursday night to cheers and applause from both sides of the aisle. Collins has yet to miss a vote since arriving at the Capitol in 19-97.
“I just wanted to thank my colleagues for their kind comments, for being on the floor and on an occasion, which means so much to me growing up in northern Maine, in Aroostook County, I learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and keeping your commitments. Mainers are known for their work ethic, and I have strived to bring those values here to my work, representing them in the United States Senate. It is such an honor, and I am so grateful for the support of my colleagues. Thank you so much,” Collins said.
