New Balance has been awarded a contract to produce athletic shoes for the U.S. military at its Skowhegan plant.
Under the three-year contract, the Defense Logistics Agency will purchase a minimum of 22,000 pairs annually, which is at least 66,000 pairs, or as many as 540,000 pairs overall, according to U.S. Sen. Susan Collins.
