The University of Maine announced May 2 that funding for the program has been restored, buoying fishermen, mariners, and others involved in the waterfront economy who say it is a vital economic engine.
“I am thrilled that Maine Sea Grant has received its full funding so that the important work they do to conduct research, support a robust pipeline of skilled labor, and enrich our coastal economies can continue unimpeded,” Collins said in a statement announcing the program’s revival.
