BANGOR, ME — Today, Chief William Nicholas Sr. of the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township formally endorsed U.S. Senator Susan Collins in her bid for re-election.
“I am honored by the endorsement of Chief William Nicholas of the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township,” said Senator Collins. “I greatly respect and support his constant work to make life better for the people of Indian Township, and I appreciate the confidence he has placed in me as a longtime partner in those efforts. I look forward to continuing to work with Chief Nicholas and the Indian Township Tribe as we have for so many years.”
“As Chief of the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township, I am proud to endorse Senator Susan Collins. She has consistently advocated for and delivered crucial federal assistance for our community, including providing much-needed funds to upgrade tribal housing. She has been a loyal friend to us in Washington — I urge all Maine people to support her re-election,” said Chief William Nicholas Sr.
Senator Collins has worked closely with the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township throughout her service in the Senate. In fiscal year 2026, Senator Collins secured nearly $3 million to construct new affordable housing units on the Indian Township Reservation. This builds on a combined $3 million in funding Senator Collins secured through the fiscal year 2024 and 2023 appropriations bills to support critical upgrades to the Tribe’s existing stock of affordable housing units.
Senator Collins has also received the endorsement of the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point.
