My wife is French, holds an EU passport and has multiple advanced degrees in engineering. She applied for a green card to live and work permanently in Maine. Immigration officials instructed us to wait until we received further notice. We heard nothing.
My wife was forced to repeatedly renew her driver’s license and carry a substantial file of immigration documents with her when traveling. We contacted Sen. Susan Collins’ office. Her staff investigated the situation to discover that the paperwork was sent to Portland, Oregon, not Portland, Maine. Their intervention finally moved the process forward.
Today, my wife owns her own engineering LLC and works as an independent contractor on advanced engineering projects in Maine and across the country. She’s contributing her education and professional experience to the U.S. economy — all made possible because of the assistance we received from Sen. Collins and her staff.
That is what effective representation looks like. And that is why Susan Collins has my vote this November.
