In-Person Absentee (Early Voting)
October 5 - October 29
Registered voters can vote in-person absentee before Election Day at their city or town clerk's office.
Absentee / Mail-in Voting
Request by October 29, 5 PM
Any registered voter can request an absentee ballot to fill out at home. Ballots can be returned via postal mail, deposited in a municipal secure ballot drop box, or returned in person to the local clerk's office.

What you need:
If you're registering for the first time
Bring Two Things
Register in person (including same-day on Election Day), online, or by mail. When you register, you'll need:
1. PROOF OF IDENTITY — one of:
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID)
- Student photo ID from an approved Maine institution
- Maine driver’s license/ID number or last four digits of Social Security Number
2. PROOF OF RESIDENCY — showing your current address:
- Maine driver’s license or state ID
- Utility bill, bank statement, or paycheck
- Vehicle registration, tax document, or other official mail
