Firefighters at shipyard roar approval for Sen. Collins
Fosters Daily Democrat- U.S. Senator Susan Collins stepped off a bus at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to the sound of dozens of cheering firefighters Friday when she kicked off a campaign push that saw her accepting the endorsement of thousands of the state's emergency responders.
The Professional Firefighters of Maine is among numerous police and fire organizations supporting Collins, a Republican, in her bid for a third term and the recent visit saw her traveling throughout the southern part of the Maine on a bus tour to accept their endorsement and thank them for their service.

Firefighters get grants from feds
Lewiston Sun Journal - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday it has awarded $869,626 in grants to nine Maine fire departments. The money is provided through the "Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program," a news release from U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, D-Maine, stated..."The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is an extremely critical source of funds for Maine's fire and rescue personnel," Collins said in a prepared statement.
